Didi’s adventure in aviation began with a Christmas gift from her husband, Bill, for 10 hours of flying lessons. He would later describe it as the biggest, and most expensive, mistake in his life. Didi went on to earn her private license SEL, as well as her Instrument rating, Commercial SEL and MEL and finally her ATP MEL. She has been a member of the El Paso Chapter of 99s since 1980, holding every office multiple times. Didi was the chapter Amelia Earhart Scholarship Chairman for many years, as well as the South Central Section scholarship chairman. She was an elected AEMSF trustee, and served 2 years. Didi was also a mission pilot for CAP (Civil Air Patrol) as well as for Airlifeline of Texas, where she flew blood from point to point. Didi was a longtime member of the El Paso Aviation Association, also holding all the offices multiple times. She flew many years in corporate aviation, and worked as a dispatcher for an air charter company. Didi was honored in Memory Lane at the International Forest of Friendship in Atchison, KS in 2007, inducted into the El Paso Aviation Hall of Fame in 2011, and was an AEMSF winner in 1998 for an ATP MEL scholarship. Didi is married to Bill and has 3 daughters and 3 grandchildren.
